Begin with where the knowledge comes from
Kambo is rooted in knowledge carried by Indigenous peoples of the Amazon. A responsible modern practice should not detach a substance from the people, place and relationships through which that knowledge has been maintained.
Recognition is more than adding an origin story to a website. It asks practitioners and organisations to be accurate, respectful and careful about what they claim to represent.

Relationship expressed through action
We believe practical support should reflect the priorities of the people it is intended to benefit. That means listening, being clear about our commitments and sharing accurate accounts of the work we support.
Reciprocity is not a one-off gesture. It should be continuing, transparent and responsive to what a community identifies as useful.

What practitioners can carry forward
Individual practitioners may not control every part of a supply chain, but they can remain curious about sourcing, avoid exaggerated stories, acknowledge Indigenous knowledge holders and support accountable relationships.
- Ask where materials come from and how they were sourced
- Speak about traditions with accuracy and humility
- Avoid using Indigenous identity as a marketing device
- Treat reciprocity as an ongoing commitment
Respect is made visible through choices. Responsible practice keeps origin, relationship and reciprocity in view—not only during training, but throughout the life of the work.
