Kambo Practitioner Training: Terms and Conditions​

The Kambo Practitioner Training provided by the Kambo Practitioner Alliance (KPA) is for educational purposes only. While Kambo is a traditional Amazonian practice with recognized healing properties, it is not a replacement for conventional medical care. By participating in this course, you agree to the following terms:

1. Health Conditions:

​Contraindications for Kambo:


Kambo is not suitable for everyone. It is crucial to disclose any medical history to your practitioner to ensure your safety. Kambo is NOT suitable for individuals with:

·   Aneurysms,

·   Active infections,

·   Hemorrhages,

·   Pancreatic issues

·   Alcohol dependence,

·   Addison’s Disease,

·   Brain injuries

·   Blood clots,

·   Chemotherapy (within 6 weeks),

·   Drug dependency (opioids, benzodiazepines)

·   Gastric sleeve or band surgery,

·   Heart issues (any),

·   Organ transplants

·   Bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychosis, personality disorders

·   Previous significant psychiatric history (requires assessment)

·   Medicated low blood pressure,

·   Recent invasive surgery (minimum 8 weeks post-op)

·   Stroke,

·   Pregnancy,

·   Breastfeeding (under 6 months),

·   Within 8 weeks of giving birth

·   Under 18 years of age,

·   Severe asthma (must bring an inhaler)

·   Diabetes (must bring insulin, testing strips, and food)

·   Recent Bufo use (within 8 weeks),

·   COVID vaccination (less than 6 weeks post-vaccine)

Medication Guidelines:

·   Antipsychotics, Antiepileptics, Antidiuretics, Diuretics: Kambo is not suitable without assessment.

·   Antibiotics: Complete the course before receiving Kambo.

·   Benzodiazepines (daily use): Full withdrawal for a minimum of 4 weeks under supervision of a medical doctor is necessary.

·   Alcohol dependency: 14 days minimum abstination.

·   Opioids (daily use): Must be stopped for a minimum of 2 weeks.

·   Weight-loss drugs (e.g., Ozempic): Refrain for 2 weeks prior.

·   Antidepressants: Inform your practitioner; they are usually safe, but guidance is required.

·   Alcohol or recreational drugs: Abstain for at least 48 hours.

2. Medical Responsibility:

Instructors and organizers are not liable for any adverse reactions that may occur during or after the course. You are responsible for ensuring you are physically and mentally fit to participate, considering the listed contraindications.

3. Practitioner Liability:

Completing this course does not automatically qualify you as a KPA Certified Kambo Practitioner. All 12 modules must be completed to attain certification. Practicing Kambo with clients should only be done after certification. The KPA and Lewis Powell are not responsible for those practicing Kambo after the course who are not KPA Certified or affiliated.

4. Course Fees:

Payment is non-refundable unless the course is cancelled by KPA. All fees must be paid in full 14 days before the course start date. No refunds will be given except in exceptional circumstances, and the deposit is non-refundable.

5. Course Failure:

In case of exam failure, one resit may be offered at the discretion of Lewis Powell.

6. Student Conduct:

The KPA reserves the right to remove students acting inappropriately or disruptively at any time.

7. Additional Costs:

The course fee covers training, light refreshments, and use of necessary equipment during sessions. Participants are responsible for additional expenses, including travel, accommodation, and personal items (e.g., knife, water bowl, smudging shell).

8. Equipment Purchase:

Optional equipment purchases after the course are at the participant's discretion and are non-refundable.

9. Liability:

The KPA is not liable for financial losses due to cancellations, changes in personal circumstances, or other unforeseen events. Ensure you have appropriate insurance if traveling from abroad.

10. Informed Consent:

You acknowledge the potential physical and emotional challenges of Kambo, including purging, heightened emotional states, and other physical reactions. You participate voluntarily and fully accept the risks involved.

11. Ethical and Legal Compliance:

You agree to practice Kambo ethically and legally, respecting its cultural roots, and following all applicable laws governing its use in your country or region.

12. Intellectual Property:

The KPA owns all copyright and intellectual property rights to the course materials. Participants may use the materials for personal, non-commercial use only. Unauthorized reproduction or distribution is prohibited.

13. Privacy Policy:

The KPA collects, uses, and protects participant data as described in its Privacy Policy, available at [Link to Privacy Policy].

14. Governing Law:

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Your Jurisdiction]. 1  

15. Amendments to Terms:

    A typical Kambo session involves: - Health screening & intention setting - Application of small burns (gates) on the skin - Kambo application & immediate effects (flushing, purging, sweating) - Rest & integration after the purge Sessions last 30-40 minutes, with post-session grounding and support.
  • What are the possible side effects of Kambo?
    Short-term side effects may include: - Increased heart rate - Flushing or sweating - Dizziness or fainting - Nausea and purging These effects typically last 15-30 minutes, followed by a period of deep rest and clarity.
  • How often should I receive Kambo?
    This depends on your individual needs. Some receive one session for detox, while others benefit from a series of treatments (e.g., three sessions over a lunar cycle). Your practitioner can advise on a protocol suited to your goals.
