Matsés Amazon Expedition
22nd August – 2nd September 2025
A rare invitation into the heart of the AmazonThis is not a retreat. It’s not a wellness holiday. This is something much deeper.
The Matsés Amazon Expedition is a raw and powerful journey into the depths of the Peruvian jungle — to live alongside one of the last remaining tribes still holding their ancestral ways. You’ll travel by seaplane and boat into one of the most remote places on earth, staying in the newly built maloka with the Matsés people on the Yaquerana River, near the Brazil–Peru border.
Over ten days, you’ll share space, food, and stories with the tribe. You’ll sit in ceremony with their sacred medicines — Kambo (Dow-Kiet), Nunu, Sananga — and learn about their healing practices, hunting culture, and deep relationship with the jungle. You’ll take part in the Contacto Matsés celebration on August 30th — an emotional day that marks their first contact with the outside world in 1969. Only a handful of outsiders have ever been invited.
Expect wild river journeys. Nights under the stars. Meals cooked from what’s hunted that day — wild boar, monkey, fish, jungle vegetables. Daily Chapo, their traditional plantain drink. Mosquitoes, snakes, and rainstorms. Deep silence. Raw connection. And moments that might stay with you for life.
This expedition isn’t easy — but it’s real. If you’re looking to understand a different way of being, to learn from people who live close to the land, and to reconnect with something raw, this is your invitation.
Limited spaces. Application and health screening required.
